After graduating 2 yr course from Andrews I was hired by the Director of Placement for LLU/LA and worked for 1 year, leaving to marry my physician husband and he was assigned to the U.S. Public Health Service [his military obligation] and we were sent to North Borneo and Sarawak to serve the Peace Corps Volunteers in both countries. I set up the Peace Corp offices in both countries [as a volunteer] and subsequently the government of North Borneo adopted my filing systems. We returned to Fort Worth Texas in the fall of 1963 where Richard was assigned to a Public Health Service Hospital. He was invited to attend a breakfast for President JFK the morning before he was shot in Dallas, but declined because of his heavy patient load. We left Fort Worth for Los Angeles in the early summer of 1964 where Richard was to begin his Pediatric Residency at L.A. County. At that time were awaiting the birth of our first son, Brent. We spent a year in Portland, Oregon, where our second son Trevor was born, and subsequnetly, Richard accepted a position with LLUMC Pediatric Department. Our 3rd son Blair and 4th son Troy were born in Loma Linda. We lived in Loma Linda from 1967-76 and then moved to our new home in Redlands and lived there until we moved to Yucaipa, CA 8 1/2 yrs. ago. I returned to work once the boys were older and hitting the high dollar amounts in the education process. I worked as Director of Medical Staff for 12 years credentialling all the physicians and allied health members of LLUMC. It was a taxing, exhilerating, exhausting and stressful job all rolled into one. My husband quit practicing pediatrics more than 20 years ago once he completed an MBA [PTL, the phone stopped ringing all night long] and has worked in the insurance end of medicine since then in Long Beach, Seattle and Columbus, Ohio. Meantime our children are grown, educated, married and have supplied us with 9 [beautiful] grandchildren, 5 boys and 4 girls. We will celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary this coming July. Our dreams/plans for our 50th are to take all of our children and grandchildren to Hawaii for a week on beach. Our 4th son lives in Bergen, Norway and has 3 children, so it's going to be quite a chore to get them all the way from Norway for this event. Our eldest son Brent is a physician Hospitalist in Redding, CA, Trevor lives in Pittsburgh and employed at Carneige Mellon and Blair lives in LasVegas, currently finishing up a masters in O.T. I improve the economy wherever we go, shopping for these 9 grandees! They are the sunshine of our lives.
