After graduation I attended Nursing School at Fletcher. I graduated in 1968 and moved to Tampa, FL. with my first husband. I worked in Pediatrics, then took Coronary Care training and set up and worked in a small Coronary Care Unit in a private hospital. After a stint with the Visiting Nurses, I "retired" and then worked with my 2nd husband in his business for 28 years. Six years ago, he was diagnosed with Parkinsons with Lewy Bodies Disease. After 2 years of decline, he spent the next 4 years and 8 months in the locked unit of a nursing home and 34 years after we were married, Julian passed away, the day before Thanksgiving in 2010.
For the past 15 years I have served as the Director of Women's Ministries for the Florida Conference. I provide resources, materials and motivation for nearly 300 local church directors as well as plan and conduct Women's Retreats for nearly 2000 women over four weekends every February. I have an amazing team of 21 women who work with me. We also do Teen and Young Adult Women's programs and Director training. We conduct Hope for Hurting Hearts retreats in English and Spanish for women who were sexually abused in childhood. Being the Director of Women's Ministries is the most soul-satisfying job I have ever had. I don't ever want to retire.
I enjoy getting together here with several people who attended AA when I did and would love to hear from old friends about their lives and family.
