The
following video tribute was created by Bethel's adopted daughter,
Anne, who published it on YouTube. Bethel was a secretary at Adelphian
Academy and her husband, Chester, was the Academy Librarian and taught Spanish. His death
preceded hers.
Webmaster Note:
Bethel, who was actually my first cousin once removed (my mother's
first cousin) was the inspiration for my lifelong interest in geneaology. When
I was at academy she would take me with her to the Detroit Library to research
documents on the family and her records started me off on my own quest
to fill in the blanks.
Bethel's husband Chester, also inspired my interest in foreign languages
and I was astounded the first time I visited Mexico and discovered that the
Spanish he taught me could actually be used to communicate with the
Mexican people!
